Meeting to Focus on the Benefits and Opportunities of Creating a New Business Later in Life
BOULDER, CO--(Marketwire - Oct 29, 2012) - The November 12 deadline is approaching to register for Denver's "Spotlight on Entrepreneurship Opportunities for Baby Boomers" event. The Mile High venue is the final destination in a four-city series organized by Boulder-based Center for Productive Longevity (CPL). CPL serves as the bridge between people 55 and older (55+) and opportunities for them to continue in productive activities. The organization created the series of meetings to help Baby Boomers contribute to the national momentum for new-business creation. In fact, Colorado ranks fourth in the country for entrepreneurism with 420 startups per 100,000 adults, according to CNNMoney.
"At 85, CPL is my purpose and passion. I want to help people in their later years find ways to continue living a productive and fulfilling life," said Bill Zinke, founder and president of the CPL. "With unemployment high and economic growth low for the foreseeable future, new-business creation provides an important way for Baby Boomers to continue working and adding value."
A new survey from Wells Fargo shows that nearly one-third of adults with income less than $100,000 plan to work until they are 80 or older, indicating the changing demographics and needs of people at and beyond retirement age.
The Denver meeting will help address this issue by demonstrating how Baby Boomers can become entrepreneurs through presentations and interactive breakout sessions. The meeting will be held on November 15 at University College on the University of Denver campus. To register and view the agenda, visit www.ctrpl.org/november-15-2012. Participants must be 50 and older. AARP, the National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship (NACCE) and CPL are sponsors of the meeting, along with other organizations.
The featured speakers include:
Space for the meeting is limited, and people are encouraged to reserve a place as soon as possible. The charge of $35 per person covers a spouse, if desired, and a post-meeting workshop on the "how-tos" of creating a new business. Registrations can be made at ctrpl.org/november-15-2012/registration.
