'Clinical Trials in Georgia' Conference Highlights State's Offerings

Special Track for Principal Investigators Offers CME Credits

ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwire - Oct 30, 2012) - The first-ever Clinical Trials in Georgia Conference offers an unprecedented opportunity to learn about the latest advances making clinical trials faster, more efficient and more compliant. The conference also highlights Georgia's array of research resources and innovative clinical trial activities. A second track has been specifically designed to meet the needs of physicians and research professionals, and offers CME credits.

The Conference takes place November 2, 2012, at the Academy of Medicine in the heart of midtown Atlanta. It is being presented by the Metro Atlanta Chamber and several founding partners, including Atlanta Clinical & Translational Science Institute, Georgia Bio, the Georgia Research Alliance and the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia.

"We have an outstanding group of dedicated volunteers and community partners who bring a great depth of experience to this project," said David Hartnett, Vice President, Economic Development, Bioscience-Health IT Industry, Metro Atlanta Chamber. "We believe the Conference will not only provide valuable information for those involved with research, but also raise national awareness of Georgia as a highly desirable site to conduct clinical trials. This not only brings more money and jobs into the state, but provides Georgians with access to new treatments for disease."

The Clinical Trials in Georgia Conference is designed to showcase the available resources in Georgia that facilitate effective clinical research initiatives, including:

  • Richly diverse research participant population
  • Exceptional expertise
  • Opportunities for utilizing public/private institutional facilities
  • Skilled, experienced talent available for project teams

"Among the areas of focus provided by the Conference will be Georgia's colleges and universities, which maintain a deep and broad pool of expertise, supported by state-of-the-art research facilities," said Chris Moder, AICP, Associate Director of Corporation Relations at the University of Georgia. "Georgia's top-ranked educational institutions regularly engage with not only public sector organizations such as the CDC, FDA, and the Georgia Department of Public Health, but also many private interests requiring clinical trials to bring their products to the market."
