Cineplex Entertainment Community Day raises $425,000 for Starlight Children's Foundation

Proceeds to benefit seriously ill children and their families

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 30, 2012) - Cineplex Entertainment (TSX:CGX) today announced that its Second Annual Community Day raised more than $425,000 for the Starlight Children's Foundation.

On October 20, 2012, more than 100,000 Canadians participated in the single-day event, which offered free movies, $2.00 movie snacks, and other fun, family-focused activities - with all proceeds benefitting this worthwhile cause.

"Community Day is a great opportunity for us to thank our guests for another year of fun at the movies - all in support of a great cause," said Pat Marshall, Vice President, Communications and Investor Relations, Cineplex Entertainment. "We were overwhelmed with the turnout again this year - and look forward to all the great work these funds will enable in support of children and families across the country."

Cineplex Entertainment thanks Paramount Pictures Entertainment Canada and Mars Canada for the donation of films and movie snacks, and RealD for the donation of 3D glasses.

In addition to concession sales, Cineplex raised funds through the sale of $2.00 paper stars and Starlight Children's Foundation pins. Cineplex also donated an amount equivalent to the value of volunteer hours contributed by thousands of employees on Community Day, in addition to all revenue from theatre video and interactive games during the event.

"Cineplex Entertainment's Community Day is a big win for children and families dealing with serious illness," said Christopher Barry, president, Starlight Children's Foundation Canada. "The funds raised during this event will help provide much-needed relief, joy and distraction to seriously ill children and their families at a time when they need it most."
