Universal(R) Expands Aviation EU-ETS Emissions Reporting Portal Providing Access to Carbon Trading Market

ORLANDO, FL--(Marketwire - Oct 30, 2012) - NBAA -- Universal Weather and Aviation, Inc. (exhibit #2516) announced that it has expanded its aviation European Union Emissions Trading Scheme (EU-ETS) Emissions Reporting Portal to provide easy access for operators purchasing carbon credits.

"For business aviation operators, Phase III of EU-ETS will be the first time they've been required to participate in the carbon market," said Adam Hartley, Supervisor, Global Regulatory Services, Universal®. "To help ease entry into the carbon trading market and minimize confusion dealing with new, complicated processes and procedures, we've done two things: first, we've performed the due diligence for our clients in selecting a carbon brokerage firm and providing easy access to its trading platform via our EU-ETS Emissions Reporting Portal; and second, we've extended our 24/7 support and assistance with EU-ETS monitoring and reporting requirements to include consultation for trading and submitting emissions allowances to member states."

Universal identified CFP Energy, Ltd (CF Partners) as a carbon trading firm that fits the unique needs of the business aviation market. CF Partners is a specialized advisory, trading, and investments firm active in the renewables, commodities, and energy markets.

"Through our emissions reporting portal, we are providing direct access to CF Partners' trading platform along with step-by-step instructions and support to help ease the account set up and trading process," said Hartley. "Rather than using multiple suppliers for monitoring, reporting, verification, and trading, users of the EU-ETS Emissions Reporting Portal are able to manage the entire process from beginning to end and have all of their EU-ETS reporting data conveniently available in one location, all while being able to talk directly to Universal EU-ETS experts for support."

Although the United States government has pending legislation that may affect the need for U.S. operators to comply with EU-ETS, Hartley stressed that operators should not be distracted by speculation.

"Until legislation that would supersede EU-ETS develops, operators must continue to comply with the regulation by submitting a verified annual emissions report and surrendering the appropriate number of carbon credits to their Member States ahead of posted deadlines."

NBAA attendees interested in learning more about EU-ETS can attend a panel discussion hosted by Hartley titled EU-ETS: Compliance in 2013 and Beyond Tuesday, Oct. 30 from 2:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. in the Orange County Convention Center, Room: S320C. Or they can visit Universal® exhibit #2516 for consultation or demos of the EU-ETS Reporting Portal.
