Groupe Photo Media International Inc. Receives Funding from Government of Canada for 3rd Zoom Photo Festival Saguenay

SAGUENAY, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Nov. 1, 2012) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, took the opportunity of today's official opening of the third Zoom Photo Festival Saguenay to announce that Groupe Photo Média International Inc. has been granted funding to promote this major cultural event on markets outside Quebec.

"By lending its financial support to Groupe Photo Média International, our government is demonstrating its firm commitment to promoting tourism development, a high-yield sector for the economy," said Minister Lebel.

During the four weekends of November, Zoom Photo Festival Saguenay, the only Canadian event of its kind dedicated to photojournalism, will feature workshops, conferences and master classes as well as 19 photo exhibitions, including exhibits from the World Press Photo contest and the great French magazine, Paris Match.

Regional winner in the 2012 edition of the Grands prix du tourisme québécois, Zoom Photo Festival Saguenay exemplifies the cultural vitality of the region. This international gathering enjoys considerable media exposure which incites a greater number of people to visit Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean. This year's edition will again help extend the tourist season and generate positive spin-offs for the local economy.
