Milk Donation Mooo-ves Food Bank to Tears!

Mayor's Christmas Food Drive Receives First Ever Milk Donation

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Dec. 18, 2012) - The Calgary Food Bank has received an incredible donation of milk just in time for the 2012 Holiday season from Rock Ridge Dairy Ltd.

On Friday, owners of Rock Ridge Dairy, Patrick and Cherylynn Bos, delivered approximately 800 litres of 2% Organic milk, processed fresh this week at their Dairy Farm and Milk and Cheese Processing facility in Ponoka, Alberta.

Ms. Bos says "We have been so blessed over the past years as our farm and processing facility has grown and evolved and we are excited to be launching our new line of Organic cow milk products to Alberta consumers. What better time than now to pass some of that blessing on to those that could truly benefit from it? We wanted to participate in a significant way in the Mayor's Annual Christmas Food Drive this holiday season. We also want to challenge other Alberta processors to donate a pallet of food products to the Calgary Food Bank before December 31st."

Food Bank CEO, James McAra, says that the Calgary Food Bank sees a dramatic increase in demand for food every holiday season, from individuals, families and other agencies providing services to low-income Calgarians. "Tens of thousands of children, youth and pregnant women access the Food Bank every year, says McAra. Adding milk to our Emergency Food Hampers is vitally important. This donation is much needed and comes at a great time of the year."

About the Bos Family

The Bos family has been dairy farming for the last 15 years. On their farm, the federally inspected processing facility Rock Ridge Dairy Ltd. has been exclusively processing goat milk and cheeses for the past 6 years for much of Western Canada. This year they expanded their operation to process organic cow's milk and cream. Currently their organic milk products are available through The Organic Box in Edmonton. However in the New Year, they hope that consumers and retailers alike will embrace their family's endeavors and we will start see their products sold in grocery chains throughout Alberta to meet the consumers demand for local farm fresh products.
