The National Shipbuilding Research Program (NSRP) is a collaboration of U.S. Shipyards that focuses on common issues with a goal of reducing the cost of acquiring, operating and maintaining Navy ships. This round of awards included 9 research projects valued at approximately $12 million in both Navy funding and industry cost share.

"We are excited about this opportunity to develop the new lighting fixture specifically designed around our already military approved IntelliTube ™ LED replacement lamp. This will allow us to further penetrate the market into the ship building supply channel," said Joe Kaveski, CEO.

The objective of the NSRP award is to "Develop, build and test an all-platform light-emitting diode (APALED) lighting system, with the goal of creating a "New Best" solution for replacement of the Navy's 2-bulb fluorescent fixture." Roger Buelow, CTO commented: "We are pleased to be chosen for this award and look forward to further work with our partners at Ingalls Shipbuilding, Electric Boat and the University of Akron who are our co-recipients for this award."
