7,000 Homeless Children to Warm Up to The Company Store's Buy One, Give One Initiative

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - Jan 7, 2013) - With children and families in dire need of warmth and comfort this winter, The Company Store is launching its Buy One, Give One initiative. For every comforter purchased between January 1-31st, The Company Store will donate a comforter to a homeless child in America.

According to the National Center on Family Homelessness, one in 45 children in the USA -- 1.6 million children -- were living on the street, in homeless shelters or motels, or were forced to double up and live with other families last year.

Through its partnership with Family Promise, The Company Store will automatically ship comforters to the organization's affiliates and national volunteer network. Best of all, each child will be able to keep the comforter as they move out of a shelter to transitional and permanent housing.

"With child homelessness up 33% from 2007, there has never been a more critical time for us support these kids with the warmth and security that comes from having your own comforter," said Karen Feldman, director of Marketing at The Company Store. "By matching each comforter purchased by our customers with an automatic donation, we're enabling our customers to give comfort and joy to children who truly deserve it."

Whether it is donating blankets and pajamas to national charities or sending bedding for local Hurricane Sandy relief efforts, The Company Store is proud assist organizations that seek to bring comfort and warmth to those who need it most. For over 100 years, The Company Store has sought to be more than just a business, but a positive influence in the community and the world. Last year, The Company Store donated nearly 20,000 comforters nationwide to children and families in need.
