Universal Aviation Spain to Relocate Headquarters to Madrid-Barajas Airport (LEMD)

Move Coincides With Aena Decision to Close Torrejon to GA Traffic Effective Feb. 1, 2013

MADRID, SPAIN--(Marketwire - Jan 23, 2013) - Universal Aviation Spain announced it is relocating its Madrid headquarters from Torrejon International Airport (LETO) to Madrid-Barajas International Airport (LEMD). The headquarters relocation was made based on the decision from Aeropuertos Españoles y Navegación Aérea (Aena) to close Torrejon Airport to general aviation aircraft effective Feb. 1, 2013.

"We are fully prepared for the transition of our headquarters, including all employees and equipment, from Torrejon to Barajas, ensuring there will be no disruptions to our clients or impact on the quality of service they receive," said Gonzalo Barona, Managing Director, Universal Aviation Spain. "Although we were headquartered at Torrejon, we have also provided services at Barajas, so we are very familiar with the airport, officials, and processes."

Universal Aviation Spain will be located in the remodeled General Aviation Terminal building (the former State Pavilion) at Barajas, which will open toward the end of March 2013. The new GAT will have its own parking and VIP facilities, including lounges and meeting rooms.

"Barajas provides the same benefits as Torrejon, and in some ways will be better, as it will have fewer diversions, which were frequent at Torrejon," said Barona. "Barajas is open 24 hours and is approximately 20 minutes away from downtown Madrid."

In addition to its office at Barajas, Universal Aviation Spain, which has had an operational presence in Madrid for more than 30 years, has a second location in Spain at Girona-Costa Brava Airport (LEGE).
