Imagination Technologies' Graphics and CPU IP Families Are Finalists in the 2013 EE Times-China ACE Awards

PowerVR Series6 GPUs and MIPS CPUs Both Nominated

LONDON, Feb. 28, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Imagination Technologies (LSE:IMG), a leading multimedia, processor, communications and cloud technologies company, announces that two key technologies in its IP portfolio are finalists in the EE Times-China Annual Creativity in Electronics (ACE) Awards. Imagination's groundbreaking PowerVR Series6 'Rogue' graphics processing technology is nominated for the 'Most Promising New Technology of the Year,' and the company's MIPS® Aptiv™ microprocessor core family is a finalist for the Processor/ DSP/ FPGA product award.

The EE Times-China ACE Awards recognize a single 'Most Promising New Technology of the Year,' as well as top products in 12 processor and technology categories. Hundreds of entries were considered from semiconductor and test companies doing business in mainland China. Criteria include: significant competitive design/technical benefits, new/innovative technology, the ability to provide significant savings in development time, cost, space and/or power dissipation; and the likelihood that the product will have significant impact in mainland China. Finalists were selected by a panel of senior industry analysts from EE Times-China, and winners will be determined through public online voting. Favorites will be named on 1st March, 2013 during the IIC-China Conference & Exhibition in Shenzhen, China.

Says Tony King-Smith, EVP marketing, Imagination: "EE Times-China is an influential publication in China, and we are delighted that two of our key IP product lines are among the finalists for its coveted annual awards. Across our broad SoC IP portfolio, which also includes advanced connectivity, video, and cloud IP, we are seeing fast-growing adoption in China. Companies increasingly select Imagination's IP solutions because of their industry-leading performance, low power consumption and advanced features that can be used to quickly create differentiated products in a highly competitive market."

About PowerVR Series6 GPU Cores

PowerVR graphics technologies are the de facto standard for mobile and embedded graphics. World-leading companies license PowerVR to power iconic products that deliver the best in smartphone, tablet, DTV and game console experiences, with the most advanced user interfaces and highest performance gaming.

Based on a scalable number of compute clusters, the PowerVR Series6 architecture addresses the requirements of a growing range of demanding applications, scaling to the highest performance mobile and embedded graphics. Members of the Series6 family are designed to support the features of the latest graphics APIs, including OpenGL ES 3.0 and DirectX9/10/11. Series6 cores deliver a significant portfolio of advanced technologies and features that combine to produce a highly latency tolerant architecture that consumes the lowest memory bandwidth in the industry, while delivering the optimal performance per mm2 or per mW, depending on configuration. Leveraging arrays of programmable computing elements, PowerVR Series6 GPU cores also deliver class-leading 'GPU compute' power efficiency, supporting all popular and emerging GPU compute APIs, while minimizing power and bandwidth demands. PowerVR Series6 cores have been licensed to many leading silicon vendors, with multiple lead partners already shipping.

About MIPS Aptiv CPU Cores
