Colliers International Elevates Pupil to President of Southwest and Most Populous Region

LOS ANGELES, April 2, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Citing his steadfast leadership through the expansion of Colliers International's strategic growth in the greater Los Angeles area that has catapulted the company to a leadership position as one of the largest commercial brokerage firms on both the West Coast and in the nation, Colliers International has named Martin Pupil to the newly created position of president for its Southwest Region. He had been serving as regional managing director for the firm's Greater Los Angeles Region.

He now will oversee all of Colliers International's commercial brokerage operations in California and Arizona, including San Francisco, San Diego, Sacramento, Orange County, Los Angeles and Phoenix. He will remain based in the firm's Irvine, California regional office.

In making the announcement, Colliers International President and Chief Executive Officer for the Americas, Dylan Taylor, said the newly created position will allow Pupil to better consolidate all of the firm's operations in the firm's single most populous region.

Pupil, who holds both law and advanced business degrees, joined Colliers International's Montreal, Canada commercial brokerage operations in 2004 where he rose rapidly through the brokerage and management ranks.

His most significant management assignment came in 2008, a year after he had relocated to Southern California from Montreal, when he was tasked with the responsibility of acquiring and integrating the nearly century-old Seely Company in Los Angeles into Colliers International, a move that greatly expanded the company's brand in the highly competitive Southern California market.

That acquisition, coupled with Pupil's vision, has proved to be the pathway for Colliers International's growth into the remainder of the Southwest through acquisitions of existing companies and the opening of new offices.

"Since that time, the Greater Los Angeles Region has seen both significant growth and major progress toward our strategic goals," CEO Taylor said. "While he will also continue to oversee the day-to-day operations for greater Los Angeles as part of his new and greatly expanded role, he will continue to be supported by his very capable senior management team."

That team consists of managing directors Hans Mumper and John Hollingsworth, who oversee office, retail, industrial and investment operations in downtown Los Angeles, the Inland Empire, the South Bay, Ventura County, Kern County, and the San Fernando, Santa Clarita and Conejo valleys.

In 2004, Pupil joined Colliers as executive vice president and general manager of the firm's Montreal operations. In 2007, he relocated to Southern California to spearhead what was then known as Colliers' Occupier Services Platform in the greater Los Angeles area. A year after that he became the regional managing director for greater Los Angeles.

During his brokerage career, he represented a variety of nationally and internationally known firms, including SeBristol-Myers Squibb, Adecco, Desjardins Sécurité Financière, Assurances Générales Desjardins, Quantum Management Ltd., Arcop Group Ltd., Equinox Services Financiers, McGill University Hospital, Neurochem, l'Université de Montréal and l'École Polytechnique.Active in a variety of professional, civic and charitable organizations, Pupil is a board member of the National Association of Industrial and Office Parks' (NAIOP) Southern California Chapter and the Building Block Foundation Fund.
