The Berry Company and the Boy Scouts Launch Annual 'Think Yellow Go Green' Program, Invite Lincoln Community to Recycle Outdated Telephone Directories

LINCOLN, Neb., April 4, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Berry Company, LLC has kicked off its fifth-annual Think Yellow, Go Green program that encourages the Lincoln community to recycle their outdated telephone directories. Berry has once again partnered with the Cornhusker Council Boy Scouts, Lincoln Parks and Recreation Department and Recycling Enterprises of Nebraska, Inc. on the Think Yellow, Go Green program, which runs April 4 through May 2. Windstream Yellow Pages were recently distributed to homes and businesses in Lincoln, so it's an ideal time to recycle all outdated directories.

The Cornhusker Council Boy Scouts will collect outdated telephone directories door-to-door in many neighborhoods. Outdated directories, including directories from other publishers, can also be dropped off at parks and recreation centers throughout Lincoln: Auld Recreation Center, Belmont Recreation Center, Easterday Recreation Center, F Street Recreation Center, Holmes Lake Park, Irving Recreation Center and the Outdoor Education Center / Cornhusker Council.

To expand this citywide recycling effort in Lincoln, Berry has partnered with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, to encourage UNL students, faculty and staff to recycle their outdated telephone directories on campus through April 19. For campus recycling locations, visit http://recycling.unl.edu.

"Fifty-one thousand pounds of outdated telephone directories were recycled during the 2012 Think Yellow, Go Green program, and we look forward to making this year's program an even bigger success," said Laura Cole, senior director, Marketing for Berry. "We are proud to have partners like the Cornhusker Council, Recycling Enterprises of Nebraska, Lincoln Parks and Recreation Department, and now the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, that care about the sustainability of our Lincoln community as much as we do."

"Each telephone directory recycled contributes to the success of the Think Yellow, Go Green program, and helps us reach our goal of keeping recyclable materials out of the landfill and putting them back into the community," said Chris Zegar, owner of Recycling Enterprises of Nebraska Inc.
