During his time aboard the Russian space station Mir, Linenger experienced one of the most dangerous space missions in history, having encountered numerous life-threatening events. In the face of repeated failure of critical life-support systems, a near collision with another spacecraft, computer malfunctions and the most severe fire aboard an orbiting spacecraft, he and his crewmates were able to accomplish all of their mission goals.
Despite being in space, the problems Linenger encountered are similar to common workforce management challenges experienced across a range of industries. From mitigating safety risks and implementing fatigue management strategies, to working with a diverse labor force and managing a team under uncertain circumstances, Linenger fully understands the many issues facing employers today.
