Save Money. Make a Difference.

terra20 launches "Saving For Change" group program to encourage eco-friendly consumer purchases, sustainability initiatives

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - April 16, 2013) - With Earth Day around the corner (April 22), North America's largest eco store is publicly launching its groundbreaking group affinity program, "Saving for Change," designed to help people save money on everyday items, while returning money to participating groups to support sustainability initiatives.

The first group to join was The Ottawa Hospital, and a diverse range of groups have since jumped on board including Colonnade, Canada Green Building Council, Creative Mornings, and Health Genie. The program is open to workplace, social, and other groups.

When a group enrolls five or more members, participants automatically start saving 10% on every purchase at terra20. As well, terra20 will refund two per cent of money spent by each participating group of more than 25 people to support their corporate sustainability goals.

"The Ottawa Hospital has an ongoing green initiative for a sustainable practical approach in making our Hospital more environmentally-friendly," says Brock Marshall, The Ottawa Hospital Director of Engineering and Chair of the Green Team with The Ottawa Hospital. "terra20 is a natural fit for our green goals, including what we support and what we want to share with our workforce and community. We have invited terra20 to be on site to provide everyone with an opportunity to share these goals."

terra20 will be at The Ottawa Hospital's Earth Day festivities April 22-24, introducing the program to Ottawa Hospital staff members. terra20 will also host its own Earth Day event on April 20, with vendors and products, emcee Ian Capstick, food sampling, prizes and more.

"The Saving for Change program is really about how companies and employees can use their collective purchasing power to bring about positive change in their own workplace, their community or around the world," says Bill Stewart, terra20 president. "Saving for Change participants can save money while making healthier choices and supporting initiatives like saving our wetlands or reducing plastic waste in their own offices."
