RTI Welcomes New Board Member

Dr. Douglas C. Schmidt, Middleware Pioneer and Distinguished Professor, Joins Board

SUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwired - Apr 18, 2013) - Real-Time Innovations (RTI), the real-time infrastructure software company, today announced the appointment of Dr. Douglas C. Schmidt, a pioneer in the middleware industry, to the company's board of directors.

Dr. Schmidt serves as a professor of computer science, associate chair of the computer science and engineering program and senior researcher at the Institute for Software Integrated Systems, all at Vanderbilt University. He is also an adjunct professor of software engineering at the Institute for Software Research in the Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) School of Computer Science and visiting scientist at CMU's Software Engineering Institute.

"Over the past two decades, RTI has established itself as the DDS middleware leader and I look forward to contributing to the company's future direction and growth," said Dr. Schmidt. "I look forward to collaborating with Stan and his team, and believe my experience will serve to complement the experiences of the other accomplished RTI board members."

Since 2010, Dr. Schmidt has been a member of the Air Force Scientific Advisory Board, where he served as vice chair of a study on cyber situational awareness for Air Force mission operations. In addition to his academic research, commercial experience and government service, Dr. Schmidt has led the development of widely-used middleware frameworks and model-driven tools used successfully by thousands of companies and agencies worldwide in many domains including national defense and security, data-com and telecom, financial services, medical engineering and massive multiplayer online gaming.
