Forbes relies on GMI Ratings, a pioneer in the application of non-traditional risk measures for financial analysis, to identify the most transparent and trustworthy businesses that trade on American exchanges. To create the list, GMI examines more than 8,000 companies traded on U.S. exchanges and reviews over 60 different governance and forensic accounting measures, searching for the companies that persistently display the most accounting transparency, have the lowest incidence of high-risk events, and have appropriate Board supervision. GMI's evaluation penalizes companies for unusual or excessive executive compensation, high levels of management turnover, substantial insider trading relative to their corporate peers, or high levels of short-term executive compensation, which encourages management to focus on short-term results.
President and Chief Executive Officer Donald W. Duda said, "It is a great honor to receive this designation and be recognized for our core values and guiding principles of integrity. Our goal of continuously building shareholder value and trust is one of the most important aspects of our corporate strategy."
