Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund: Corporation Eco-Parc des Etchemins Receives Funding From Government of Canada

LAC-ETCHEMIN, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - April 18, 2013) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec and Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, today announced that Corporation Éco-Parc des Etchemins has been granted financial assistance to renovate the main pavilion of the Eco-Park and set up a water playground on the site.

"By funding this Corporation Éco-Parc des Etchemins renovation project, our Government is fulfilling its commitment of helping to improve the quality of life in our communities," said Minister Lebel.

The Corporation's project is part of a long-term plan for revitalizing Éco-Parc des Etchemins. It aims to extend the opening hours of the main pavilion, expand the services available on the recreational tourism site and increase the park's drawing power and attendance rates.

"Our government remains focused on four priorities, as outlined by the Prime Minister, that Canadians care most about: their families, the safety of our streets and communities, their pride in being a citizen of this country, and of course, their personal financial security," Minister Lebel concluded.

Information:

This assistance, granted in the form of an $80,504 non-repayable contribution, has been awarded through the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF).

The CIIF has a nationwide budget of $150 million over two years, including $31.2 million to be invested in Quebec where the Agency is responsible for its administration. The Fund aims to support the rehabilitation and improvement, including expansion, of existing community infrastructure. The second call for proposals is currently open; interested organizations have until April 30, 2013, to submit their proposals.
