SEPT-ÎLES, QUÉBEC--(Marketwired - April 24, 2013) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec and Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, today announced that three Côte-Nord organizations have been granted financial assistance for infrastructure improvements.
"By funding these renovation and modernization projects, the Government of Canada is fulfilling its commitment to help improve the quality of life in our communities," said Minister Lebel.
The three organizations receiving this financial assistance from the Government of Canada are the Comité culturel Longue-Pointe-de-Mingan, the Association sociale et communautaire de Havre-Saint-Pierre Inc. and Les Loisirs Colombier.
"Our government remains focused on four priorities, as outlined by the Prime Minister, that Canadians care most about: their families, the safety of our streets and communities, their pride in being a citizen of this country, and of course, their personal financial security," Minister Lebel concluded.

This assistance, granted in the form of non-repayable contributions totalling $203,507, has been awarded through the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF).
The CIIF has a nationwide budget of $150 million over two years, including $31.2 million to be invested in Quebec where the Agency is responsible for its administration. The Fund aims to support the rehabilitation and improvement, including expansion, of existing community infrastructure. The second call for proposals is currently open; interested organizations have until April 30, 2013, to submit their proposals.
