Verkkokauppa.com Oyj, 2013-05-03 11:32 CEST (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Verkkokauppa.com has received a note from National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health, or Valvira, regarding the sale of products branded as hard alcohol. The products mentioned in this case are barbeque sauces and smoking chips labeled with the Jack Daniel’s brand. In the note Valvira states that presenting these products in the online store, Facebook, catalogue or in other media breaks the restriction of advertising and promoting hard alcohol drinks set in the Alcohol Act Section 33 paragraph 1.
Verkkokauppa.com will follow Valvira's request by covering all the labels of Jack Daniel’s smoking chips and also discontinuing the sale of Jack Daniel’s sauces. The pictures in the online store will be treated accordingly and all the recognizable Jack Daniel’s logos and other elements will be covered in short time. Jack Daniel’s smoking chips are found in Verkkokauppa.com’s Grill and Cooking category at http://www.verkkokauppa.com/fi/catalog/31a/Grillaus-ja-kokkaus.
“We want to follow the Finnish legislation and there is nothing unclear about the case. We will cover the requested elements from the packages and continue selling the products normally. In the future Jack Daniel’s smoking chips will be recognized in the store from a paper bag with a white sticky label saying 'Viskitynnyrisavustuslastut' (Whiskey barrel smoking chips)”, describes Samuli Seppälä, CEO of Verkkokauppa.com.
