Paradigm Outcomes Awarded Contract by the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation

Proven Success Managing Catastrophic Claims Earns New Business From Nation's Largest State Insurance Fund

WALNUT CREEK, CA--(Marketwired - May 7, 2013) - Paradigm Outcomes has been named a partner in a pilot project to be conducted by the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation (BWC) to deliver the best possible medical outcomes and quality of life for Ohio's catastrophically injured workers and their families. Paradigm's one-year contract, with the option to renew for three additional one-year periods, became effective January 15, 2013.

Catastrophic claims, including traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, multiple traumas, amputations and severe burns, require specialized management and expertise. By awarding a contract to a designated catastrophic claim case management vendor like Paradigm, the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation expects to improve medical outcomes for their injured workers while simultaneously lowering lifetime costs in the workers' compensation system. Paradigm and the BWC will monitor multiple sources of data to measure success.

"We look forward to working with the committed staff at the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation," said Paradigm Chief Executive Officer and Chairman James Hudak. "With 20 plus years of experience managing the most complex cases nationwide, we will complement their already robust care management capabilities. Our highly specialized nurse case managers are already in Ohio and ready to offer focused care management to injured workers and their families."

The Ohio workers' compensation system is the largest exclusive state insurance fund system in the United States, with annual insurance premiums and assessments of approximately $2 billion. In the fiscal year of 2012, the organization managed approximately 1.1 million open claims, with 112,613 new claims received.
