Aberdeen Group Publishes IT Infrastructure, Virtualization and Cloud Research

Research Examines Infrastructure-as-a-Service, Exchange, ERP and Financial Application Deployment

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwired - May 7, 2013) - Aberdeen Group, a Harte-Hanks Company (NYSE: HHS), today announced the publication of new research reports from its IT Infrastructure research practice.

"Infrastructure-as-a-Service: Portrait of an Emerging Industry," one of four reports authored this month by Dick Csaplar, Senior Research Analyst for the Aberdeen IT Infrastructure/Virtualization and the Cloud research practice, shows that the use of Infrastructure-as-a-Service or IaaS is still an emerging technology. Companies with active Cloud computing programs reported an average of just over one IaaS deployment in their organization. Applications deployed on an IaaS platform tend to be basic business applications such as email, eCommerce or databases. Mission-critical, enterprise applications have very low IaaS deployments, but those rates should increase as organizations learn to trust their Cloud provider. To obtain a complimentary copy of this report visit: http://www.aberdeen.com/Aberdeen-Library/8421/AI-public-cloud-infrastructure.aspx.

"On-Premise or in the Cloud: How Best-in-Class Deploy their Exchange Applications" indicates there are now five basic on-premise or Cloud approaches to deploying an application. Leading organizations are most likely to deploy their Exchange email application in the Cloud using a SaaS deployment model or having the application hosted by a Cloud provider. All other survey respondents are most likely to have their Exchange application deployed in-house, on a physical server, deployed without the benefit of any server virtualization. Leading organizations are clearly gaining the advantages of the Cloud and server virtualization when it comes to supporting their Exchange email application. To obtain a complimentary copy of this report visit: http://www.aberdeen.com/Aberdeen-Library/8393/AI-hosted-exchange-applications.aspx

"On-Premise or in the Cloud: How Best-in-Class Deploy their Finance or Accounting Applications" shows that leading organizations are most likely to deploy their finance or accounting applications in their own datacenters on virtualized servers. The use of Cloud-based applications is wide, as 45% of leading companies report having a Cloud-based finance or accounting application. All other survey respondents are most likely to have their finance or accounting applications deployed in-house, on a physical server, deployed without the benefit of any server virtualization. Leading organizations gain the advantages of server virtualization and the Cloud when deploying their finance or accounting applications. To obtain a complimentary copy of this report visit: http://www.aberdeen.com/Aberdeen-Library/8423/AI-finance-accounting-applications.aspx

"On-Premise or in the Cloud: How Best-in-Class Deploy their ERP Applications" shows that there are now five basic ways to deploy an application, either on-premise or in the Cloud. Leading organizations are most likely to deploy their ERP applications on a virtualized server. Since ERP applications tend to be very large, and contain business critical data, only about 26% of even the Best-in-Class are using a Cloud-based ERP application. All other survey respondents are most likely to have their ERP applications deployed in-house, on a physical server, deployed without the benefit of any server virtualization. To obtain a complimentary copy of this report visit: http://www.aberdeen.com/Aberdeen-Library/8422/AI-application-server-virtualization.aspx
