Shannonville Woman Pleads Guilty to One Charge Under the Ontario SPCA Act

SHANNONVILLE, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - May 8, 2013) - Charlotte Bright, of Shannonville, Ontario, has pled guilty to one count of failing to comply with an order under the Ontario SPCA Act.

On September 25, 2012, orders were written for all debris and garbage around an Akbash-type dog on Bright's property to be cleaned up and to provide the dog with a dog house. None of the orders were complied with and the dog was removed from the property.

Despite an attempt at an appeal, later during a hearing on December 10 and 11, 2013, Bright surrendered the dog. An order was issued for Bright to pay the statement of account, which was not complied with. Bright was then charged with failure to comply with an order of the Board. Following a court date on April 30, 2013, Bright subsequently pled guilty to the charge and was fined $200. She also paid the outstanding statement of account.

The dog was put up for adoption at the Quinte Humane Society and has since been adopted.
