Tricentris Receives Financial Support From Government of Canada

MONTRÉAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - May 10, 2013) - Acting on behalf of the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec and Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, the Honourable Claude Carignan, Deputy Leader of the Government in the Senate, today announced that Tricentris has been granted financial assistance for the development of a new mixed-glass product.

"By lending financial support to Tricentris, our government is giving a real boost to innovation, and consequently to economic growth," said Senator Carignan.

Tricentris is a not-for-profit organization that specializes in the sorting of materials from recycling bins, an essential step in the reclamation of recyclable waste for eventual reuse. The project is part of the organization's development plan and involves reclaiming glass that would normally no longer be recyclable. The result of technology transfer from the Université de Sherbrooke, this new mixed-glass product will be intended for new markets like the ready-to-use concrete and pre-fabricated concrete products industries.

The funding announced today will enable Tricentris to build a plant and acquire the equipment needed for the production of glass powder. This initiative will serve as a pilot project for the development of a commercial manufacturing process.

"Our government remains focused on four priorities, as outlined by the Prime Minister, that Canadians care most about: their families, the safety of our streets and communities, their pride in being a citizen of this country, and of course, their personal financial security," Senator Carignan concluded.
