Vancouver Airport Marriott Kicks Off 15 Year Anniversary With Elephant Naming Contest

RICHMOND, BC--(Marketwired - May 13, 2013) - A pair of elephant statues are the focus of a contest celebrating the 15 year anniversary of the Vancouver Airport Marriott, with the winner receiving a one night stay, in a One Bedroom Suite, plus Dinner for Two at the American Grille restaurant.

For the past 15 years, the two stone elephants located at the southeast corner of the hotel have been local landmarks. Symbolic of happiness, longevity and good luck, the statues have become a recognizable part of the hotel, which boasts stylish Richmond, BC suites and is home to The American Grille, a popular Richmond restaurant that features diverse menu offerings from West Coast cuisine to classics favorites.

People of all ages are invited to enter the contest, which includes naming the two elephants and writing a 500 word or less story telling people about their journey to the hotel.

Participants, Richmond locals, and hotel guests are invited to attend the Vancouver Airport Marriott's Pancake Breakfast and anniversary celebration from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on June 1. The winner will be announced on Vancouver Airport Marriott Twitter and Facebook on May 29. All entries will be posted in the hotel lobby for guests and visitors to read during the celebration.

The Pancake Breakfast will be served by donation with all proceeds going to the Children's Miracle Network.

• Contest opens April 28 at 12 midnight and closes May 27
• Submit entries to social@vancouver-marriott.com, or drop them off at the Vancouver Airport Marriott front desk, marked ATTN: Annette Lee
• One entry per person
• Story must be 500 words or less and name both elephants
• Entrants must submit full name and contact information (phone number, email).
