Calgary Food Bank: Who Will Be The Hunger Hero?

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - May 13, 2013) - Camaraderie and friendly competition come together tomorrow at the Calgary Police Service and Calgary Emergency Medical Services food sculpture challenge.

Tuesday, May 14
9AM to 12:30PM
Lobby of Western Canadian Place (707 -8 Ave SW)

Each team is supplied with the same amount and type of food items, all of which are on the Food Bank's most needed list. Teams design and build the most innovative structure from these non-perishable food items, which are then judged, dismantled and donated.

This year, the teams will be assisted by the Hunger Hero Build team from The City of Calgary's Wastewater Treatment department, whose sought-after skills will take these Hunger Heroes to a new level.

The activity is part of Husky Help the Hungry Week (May 13-17) and a guest panel of judges from Husky Energy and the Calgary Food Bank will be on hand.

Thirty years ago Calgary changed the way emergency food was provided to people in need.

Today the Calgary Food Bank continues this spirit of collaboration by working with more than 100 local agencies to support people through difficult times.

Together, we work to nourish healthy communities and you, too, can be part of the change.
