NEI Re-Elects Energy Future Holdings' Young, Exelon's Crane to Board Leadership


WASHINGTON, May 13, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Nuclear Energy Institute has re-elected John F. Young, president and chief executive officer of Energy Future Holdings, as chairman of its board of directors. Christopher M. Crane, president and CEO at Exelon Corp., has been re-elected vice chairman of the board.

NEI also has elected two new members and re-elected three members to its board of directors. Five new members were elected to the board's executive committee, joining five members who were re-elected. The elections took place today at a board of directors meeting preceding NEI's annual conference.

The newly elected members of NEI's executive committee, which sets broad policy for the industry, are:

  • Alasdair I. Cathcart, president, Bechtel Power Corp.
  • Timothy Gitzel, president and CEO, Cameco Corp.
  • James H. Lash, president, FirstEnergy Generation
  • William Mohl, president, Entergy Wholesale Commodities
  • Daniel L. Roderick, president and CEO, Westinghouse Electric Co.

Re-elected to the executive committee are:

  • Donald E. Brandt, chairman of the board, president and CEO, Pinnacle West Capital Corp.
  • Christopher M. Crane, president and CEO, Exelon Corp.
  • David A. Christian, CEO Generation, Dominion Generation
  • Michael W. Rencheck, president and CEO, AREVA Inc.
  • James E. Rogers Jr., chairman, president and CEO, Duke Energy Corp.

Newly elected to the NEI board of directors are:

  • Daniel L. Roderick, president and CEO, Westinghouse Electric Co.
  • Sean McGarvey, president, Building and Construction Trades Department, AFL-CIO.

The re-elected board members are:

  • Christofer M. Mowry, president, Babcock &Wilcox mPower Inc.
  • K. Keith Roe, chairman, president and CEO, Burns and Roe Enterprises Inc.
  • Chris Tye, senior vice president, nuclear power, Fluor Corp.

Executives from all companies that hold licenses to operate nuclear power plants and selected representatives of other companies involved in commercial nuclear technologies are members of the NEI board of directors. Members of the board and its executive committee typically serve three-year terms, and officers are elected annually.

  • Anthony R. Pietrangelo, senior vice president and chief nuclear officer
  • Phyllis M. Rich, senior vice president, chief financial officer, and treasurer

  • Lisa I. Steward, assistant secretary.
