Public Sector Organizations Worldwide Move to the Cloud as Huddle Achieves Record Year for Government Contracts

Huddle Launches Content Collaboration Service for U.S. Government

LONDON and SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - May 14, 2013) - The public sector's shift towards innovative cloud technologies has accelerated in the last year as Huddle today announced a record year for public sector contracts worldwide. Providing secure content collaboration for governments, Huddle increased the number of deals secured with public sector organizations by more than a quarter (26 per cent) year on year. Huddle users now include the Commonwealth Secretariat, European Commission, U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Aviation Administration, U.S. Department of Transportation and the Florida Senate.

The company's most successful year in the public sector to date saw Huddle secure a partnership and technology development agreement with In-Q-Tel (IQT), the non-profit, strategic investment firm that identifies innovative technology solutions to support the missions of the U.S. Intelligence Community. As a result, Huddle is developing a FISMA-certified instance of its platform for IQT customer agencies, the Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate and the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency. In addition, Huddle is now the most successful Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) supplier on the UK government's G-Cloud Framework, securing 16 per cent of the 128 SaaS contracts to date and almost a quarter (23 per cent) of total SaaS spend.

Accelerating content collaboration in the U.S. government

To increase its push into U.S. Federal, State and Local Government, Huddle has joined forces with Carpathia Hosting, the leading provider of enterprise managed hosting services for government agencies. Working together, the companies have launched Huddle's U.S. government offering, providing agencies and public sector organizations with a secure and compliant government content collaboration platform. The offering comprises of:

  • Secure and audited sharing of content with full version control and tracking
  • External collaboration to enable cross-agency and departmental team working
  • Dedicated U.S. government mobile apps for iPad and iPhone
  • Intelligent delivery of content using patent-pending recommendation technology to overcome inefficient search
  • Integration with SharePoint and email to move content collaboration out of legacy environments

"When we initially engaged with Huddle, there was an immediate connection. After great success with European government customers, Huddle wanted to expand into the U.S. government marketplace. Carpathia is exactly the kind of company Huddle's team could count on to provide a secure and compliant foundation for its U.S. government business," said Stu Fleagle, Vice President, Carpathia Government Solutions. "Carpathia's world class, federally compliant data centers, along with our qualifications in government compliance, made us a great choice and partner for Huddle's government initiatives. We currently work with several federal agencies and have assisted nearly 50 U.S. Government Agency-sponsored ATOs, and we're looking forward to continuing to using our expertise to help fuel Huddle's future growth."

Enabling information to be securely shared across the public sector ecosystem of government departments and agencies, and external contractors and partners, Huddle has been adopted to drive efficiencies and improve productivity by 80 per cent of central UK government departments, including the Cabinet Office and Defra. Beyond the UK, Huddle is used to improve information management and collaboration by NASA, the Bermuda Government, Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. National Park Service and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. In addition, Huddle is used by government organizations in Belgium, Italy, Spain, Greenland and Finland.

"It has been a phenomenal year for the cloud in public sector," said Alastair Mitchell, CEO, Huddle. "Governments worldwide are waking up to the benefits the cloud has to offer -- greater flexibility, scalability, better service and value for money -- they're making a stand against legacy systems, like SharePoint, that no longer meet the needs of the workforce. With a strong government heritage across Europe, we're excited to be bringing our government expertise to the U.S. thanks to our partnerships with Carpathia and IQT and transforming the way in which government works."
