Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund: Government of Canada supports Association des loisirs de Garthby et Beaulac Inc.

BEAULAC-GARTHBY, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - May 14, 2013) - The Honourable Christian Paradis, Minister of Industry and Minister of State (Agriculture), today announced, on behalf on the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec and Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, that the Association des loisirs de Garthby et Beaulac Inc. has been granted financial assistance for renovations and improvements to the Beaulac-Garthby community centre.

"By supporting the project of the Association des loisirs de Garthby et Beaulac, the Government of Canada is fulfilling its commitment to help improve the quality of life in our communities," said Minister Paradis.

Thanks to the Government of Canada's assistance, various work will be carried out on the building that houses the community centre, including: replacing the doors and windows, upgrading the foundation, insulation and heating and lighting systems, as well as rehabilitating the washroom facilities. This project will increase the use of the centre by Beaulac-Garthby residents.

"Our Government remains focused on four priorities, as outlined by the Prime Minister, that Canadians care most about: their families, the safety of our streets and communities, their pride in being a citizen of this country, and of course, their personal financial security," concluded Minister Paradis.

Information:

This assistance, granted in the form of a $146,500 non-repayable contribution, has been awarded through the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF).

The CIIF has a nationwide budget of $150 million over two years, including $31.2 million to be invested in Quebec where the Agency is responsible for its administration. The Fund aims to support the rehabilitation and improvement, including expansion, of existing community infrastructure.
