FireMon Taps Cybersecurity Veteran to Lead Federal Business

Security and Risk Management Leader Accelerates Public Sector Momentum With Appointment of Albert Nieves as Vice President of Federal Sales

OVERLAND PARK, KS--(Marketwired - May 15, 2013) - FireMon, the leading provider of security management and risk analysis solutions, today announced that it has named Albert Nieves to the position of Vice President of Federal Sales. Charged with driving the rapid expansion of FireMon's federal business and the continued adoption of Security Manager by federal agencies, Nieves will report to Vice President of Worldwide Sales, Alin Srivastava.

Nieves brings more than 20 years of professional industry sales experience to FireMon, focused primarily on the federal civilian, Department of Defense and intelligence markets. Most recently, he served as the Director of Federal Sales for Guidance Software, overseeing the rapid growth of its digital forensics, cybersecurity and e-discovery solutions. Previously, Nieves held several key sales and business development positions at leading companies including CA, E-NET Corporation and HCL Technologies.

Notably, Nieves' appointment underscores a period of tremendous public sector momentum for FireMon. Recent highlights include:

  • Announced FireMon Security Manager 7.0, empowering government organizations with continuous assessment capabilities that address the Department of Homeland Security's continuous monitoring requirements in real-time.
  • Selected as one of Homeland Security Today's "Rising 10 of 2013" in the "Continuous Monitoring Category" for its highly scalable, high-performance compliance solutions.
  • Nominated in GTRA's GOVTek Executive Government Technology Awards program for "Best Risk Management Solution."

"Albert comes to FireMon during a critical time for the public sector. With the recent sequestration impacting both IT budgets and staffs, agencies need strategic cybersecurity solutions that enable them to efficiently leverage existing infrastructure assets, as well as optimize organizational resources," said Srivastava. "We welcome Albert's leadership and expertise. I am confident he will forge key relationships with government agencies and partners, which will enable FireMon to further penetrate the federal marketplace and help secure the nation's cyberinfrastructure."

"I am energized to join FireMon during such a high-growth period," said Nieves. "The company truly understands the complex network security challenges faced by public sector IT. I look forward to helping government agencies successfully navigate the evolving threat landscape, and establish a solid foundation for more effective continuous monitoring initiatives."
