Murray taps his Southern roots in signature selections such as piled-high baby back ribs slow-cooked and smoked with Virginia whiskey barbecue sauce, and Virginia hard cider rotisserie chicken that is brined with hard apple cider, rubbed with his special blend of herbs and spices and slow-cooked. Appetizers such as Virginia mac and cheese fritters with Virginia country ham and local cheese, and Chesapeake crab and corn chowder reflect his emphasis on incorporating seasonal ingredients from local artisans, farms and waters.
The glow from the backlit bar is a beacon for thirsty guests. Whiskey from regional distilleries is prominent in handcrafted cocktails. Authentic root beer joins refreshing local microbrews on tap. Virginia wine is offered by the glass and bottle.
Washington, D.C.-based architecture firm CORE designed the 146-seat restaurant and Greatroom with an inviting mix of textures and colors, including blonde and walnut wood, marble and copper. A bar made of amber recycled glass, communal seating, cozy booths and tables and an area to play shuffleboard offer the perfect spot for friendly gatherings, intimate dinners and business networking.
