TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - May 24, 2013) -  The first-ever Toronto Modern Home Tour will take place on Saturday, June 8^th, two weeks after Doors Open Toronto. Residents will have the opportunity to explore some of the greatest examples of residential modern architecture and interior design, as Modern Home Tours makes a premier trip outside of the US.

The self-guided driving tour will feature six to ten architecturally progressive and contemporary homes that exemplify modern living in and around the Toronto area. See first-hand how homes incorporate the principles of modernist thinking with cutting edge building science and sustainable techniques when craft, science, and talent all come together to create a completely modern dwelling.

Modern Home Tours founder, James Leasure, explains the group's decision to venture north: "Toronto is one of the most vibrant and progressive cities in the Americas; it's truly an ideal choice to host our first international tour. We are thrilled to bring the idea of modern architecture exploration to the unique architectural community that has blossomed north of our borders, starting with Toronto in May and continuing with Vancouver in the fall."

The Red Door Family Shelter has joined the tour as the local non-profit partner. They will help staff the event and use the tour as a fundraising vehicle.

Participating homes will open their doors for viewing from 11AM - 5PM on Saturday, June 8^th (two weeks after Doors Open Toronto). All homes are located in the Toronto area, and all participating architecture firms are local businesses. Tickets are $30 in advance; $40 on the day of the tour. Everyone is invited; kids under 12 are FREE.
