ownCloud Coming to Red Hat Summit in Boston June 11-14

On-premise enterprise file sync and share company to demo latest server and client releases, present on "Liberating Your Files" with partner Vizuri

Lexington, Massachusetts, UNITED STATES

Lexington, Mass., June 4, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- ownCloud, Inc., the company behind the world's most popular open source secure enterprise file sync and share software, will exhibit and present at the Red Hat Summit in Boston's Hynes Center, June 11-14.

With more than 850,000 users worldwide, ownCloud offers the ease-of-use, flexibility, sophistication and security unmatched by basic consumer-grade syncing apps and third-party storage. Located in booth number 112, ownCloud will demo ownCloud 5, the company's most ambitious release to date, as well as the latest mobile apps and desktop clients.

ownCloud's vice president of Products, Matt Richards, will discuss "Liberate your Files: A solution from Vizuri using ownCloud, OpenShift, and Red Hat Storage Server." Richards will join partner Vizuri's architect Isaac Christoffersen and Ted Brunell, solution architect, Red Hat for the presentation, which will take place at 11:00 AM in Room 310, Friday, June 14.

"Many of today's enterprises are working under the false assumption that there is a tradeoff between consumer-centric file sharing and corporate IT policy compliance," said Richards. "This assumption is common because market-leading Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions for file syncing and sharing are not designed around enterprise IT needs. They represent growing risks with vendor lock-in, data security, compliance, and data ownership."

By leveraging innovative open source solutions from Red Hat and ownCloud, enterprises can provide simple-to-use file syncing and sharing for employees, enabling enterprises to have greater control over valuable intellectual property.

For example, ownCloud becomes part of the existing infrastructure because it can be deployed fully on-premise, integrating into existing user directories, governance processes, security, monitoring, storage and back-up tools. Because ownCloud is open source and open by nature, plug-in apps extend ownCloud out of the box, enabling file versioning, file sharing, external file system mounts and much more. If additional applications or capabilities are needed, enterprises can easily extend ownCloud via an enhanced application plug-in architecture, and add it to their ownCloud server.

"We're excited to present a tangible solution today using ownCloud that addresses the market's demand for cloud storage," said Joe Dickman, senior vice president, Vizuri.  "As organizations continue to incorporate cloud services into their daily workflow, companies must find new ways to strike a balance between IT security, industry compliance, and employee productivity, which the ownCloud and Red Hat technologies deliver."
