Milwaukee School of Engineering Chooses Widen for Digital Asset Management Solution

Private Midwestern University to Replace Cluttered Photo Server With Cloud-Based Digital Asset Management From Widen

MADISON, WI--(Marketwired - Jun 5, 2013) - Milwaukee School of Engineering (www.msoe.edu), ranked among the top 20 Midwestern universities by U.S. News & World Report, is now using Widen for its Digital Asset Management needs. MSOE selected Widen to gain tools for organization, keyword searching, and intra-department photo sharing.

"We were storing photos in folders on a network, and it became cumbersome to search through them," said JoEllen Burdue, MSOE's Director of Media Relations. "We didn't have a way to search by keyword. Our photo drive got really large, and organizing photos became more difficult."

The marketing department was responsible for storing all university images, including events photos, marketing and publication shots, faculty and staff headshots, sport team coverage, and more.

The marketing department was the only one with access to the drive, and fulfilling photo requests from other departments became time consuming. Consequently, MSOE's IT Department began an extensive search for a better system and chose Widen DAM.

"We wanted a system that would be easy to navigate, sort, share, store and retrieve files," said Burdue. "Widen's cloud-based system fit our needs."

"Widen has a history of helping higher education customers manage their assets," said Nina Brakel-Schutt, Widen Brand Strategist. "MSOE faces the same challenge that all higher ed institutions grapple with -- centralizing and organizing their many, many files that are hidden across different departments and in disparate locations."

After launching Widen DAM, MSOE's marketing department will be the first users. Gradually, they will extend access to other departments in need of photos. Widen DAM will make photos easy to tag, search, share, and download in any format needed.
