Maurel & Prom denies information released by Bloomberg concerning its permits in Gabon
The company Etablissements Maurel & Prom categorically denies the remarks made by Mr Philippe de Pontet of the company Eurasia Group Ltd., released by Bloomberg in the article entitled Maurel May Be Next Target of Gabon Oil Seizures, Eurasia Says.
Contrary to what is stated in this article, Maurel & Prom is not the subject of any tax litigation in Gabon.
Maurel & Prom largely exceeds its contractual commitments in terms of expenditure on exploration, production investment, use of local labour and support to regional development. Maurel & Prom Gabon employs 224 people including 95% of Gabonese, this exceptionally high rate and the quality of relationships within the company and in its environment allowed him to not be directly affected at the time of the recent strikes.
In addition the Group makes a point of specifying that it took all the necessary measures to put an end to these unfounded rumours, which one can legitimately question as to their intended purpose.
