Coblentz Patch Duffy & Bass Adds Litigation Partner Jessica Grant

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Jun 11, 2013) -  Coblentz Patch Duffy & Bass LLP, a 123-year-old law firm with 75 attorneys located in San Francisco's historic Ferry Building, today adds litigator Jessica Grant as a Partner. She joins the firm from San Francisco's Sher Leff and will focus on complex litigation at Coblentz.

Grant is an experienced trial lawyer who has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in federal and state court. This year, she represented the state of New Hampshire in a three-month trial against Exxon Mobil and other defendants, resulting in an $816 million jury verdict for her clients and proving that the oil company had been negligent when it added fuel additive MTBE to gas, failing to warn consumers of the danger. No stranger to battling large companies with considerably more resources than her clients, in 2005, Grant obtained a $172 million verdict against Wal-Mart in a class action on behalf of 116,000 employees who claimed they were denied meal and rest breaks. In addition to her environmental and employment law litigation prowess, Grant has experience in the areas of patent and antitrust litigation. In 2008, she successfully defended Intel Corporation in a $450 million breach of contract and patent case.

Consistently recognized for her groundbreaking work, Grant has received a California Lawyer Attorney of the Year Award for her work on the Wal-Mart case and been named one of the "Top Women Litigators in California" by the Daily Journal. She currently serves as a mediator for the San Francisco Superior Court Early Settlement Program and is an active member of California Women Lawyers, the National Association of Women Judges, Queen's Bench and the Association of Business Trial Lawyers. Grant has lectured widely on a number of topics including trial practice, class action law and employment matters.

Grant earned her J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law (1995) and her B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley (1990).
