IDC to Showcase New Products for Video Distribution at CommunicAsia2013

New LASER(TM) Targeted Ad Insertion Platform helps Asian broadcasters increase ad revenues and reduce costs.

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - June 12, 2013) - International Datacasting (TSX:IDC) will introduce the latest generation of its LASER Targeted Ad Insertion Platform to the Asian market at CommunicAsia2013 in Singapore, running from June 18-21. IDC will be exhibiting at Stand 1D2-04.

IDC's LASER Targeted Ad Insertion Platform, Digital Tattoo™ DTH Over IP Gateway, and SuperFlex® Pro Cinema Cache Servers and Event Players are among the highlights of the company's CommunicAsia booth. These products give Asian broadcasters and service providers new ways to increase revenue streams while reducing operating costs.

The LASER platform provides targeted local ad insertion and DVB-S/S2 satellite video reception in a single edge device. Globally, broadcasters and service providers lose millions of dollars in ad revenues every year because of licensing, regulatory and copyright issues specific to certain regions throughout the world. With the LASER platform, operators can provide regionalized ad insertion and blackout management for satellite delivered content - from one cost-effective platform. The solution's blackout capabilities ensure the broadcaster can safely sell and distribute any network-wide ad, even if it is not permitted or suitable for the entire distribution footprint.

"Our LASER platform provides a video distribution receiver, an ad splicer, and an ad server all in one affordable device," said Doug Lowther, president and CEO at IDC. "And with it, television networks and content redistributors can offer a more powerful advertising solution. It affords greater flexibility to advertisers by offering both dynamic ad targeting and flexible ad footprints. We believe this next generation product will enable many Asian broadcasters to increase their advertising revenues."

IDC's Digital Tattoo™ DTH Over IP Gateway enables direct-to-home (DTH) satellite operators to expand the addressable market for their existing services by gaining access to residential customers living in multi-dwelling units (MDUs). Digital Tattoo helps overcome the distribution challenges currently faced by DTH operators looking to provide services to potential subscribers within MDUs including apartment buildings, gated communities, college campuses, and healthcare facilities.

IDC's Digital Tattoo DTH Over IP Gateway uses IP networking to distribute DTH content to MDU subscribers over a standard Ethernet network. IDC's approach is easier and more cost-effective to implement because it allows the Ethernet infrastructure to be reused. This enables MDU owners to offer residents additional services, such as Internet connectivity, voice over IP, and surveillance camera monitoring.

IDC's popular digital cinema products will also be highlighted at CommunicAsia including the SuperFlex Pro Cinema Cache Servers and Event Players. Over 70 percent of satellite-connected digital cinemas throughout the world use IDC's Digital Cinema Solutions.
