MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - June 12, 2013) - Canderel is proud to announce that seven properties in the Technoparc Montréal were the recipients of BOMA BESt, Level 1 certification at a ceremony held at L'Arsenal in Montreal. The certification awards were accepted by Canderel on behalf of building owners LaSalle Investment Management. To achieve BOMA BESt, Level 1 certification, a building must meet all of the BOMA Go Green Best Practices. The seven properties represent over 285,000 square feet of leasable office and laboratory space.

A number of measures have been implemented throughout the Technoparc Montréal to reduce energy and water use and better manage waste. High-efficiency lighting and water saving washroom fixtures are in place throughout the properties. In addition to the office recycling program which collects glass, plastic, metal, paper and cardboard; paint, electronic waste and fluorescent lamps are also recycled. A recent Earth Day event collected over 1.9 tonnes of electronic waste throughout the Technoparc Montréal. Canderel also employs a green landscaping service to ensure that no pesticides are used and water use is minimized.

"This achievement stands as testimony to the work that Canderel has undertaken to implement sustainable management practices since gaining the mandate for the Technoparc Montréal from LaSalle Investment Management in the summer of 2012," said Jonathan Wener, Chairman and CEO of the Canderel Group of Companies. "Canderel firmly believes that the BOMA BESt certification process offers an excellent means through which to benchmark and improve a property's environmental performance. Sustainable practices are something we embrace throughout our portfolio of managed properties and I am thrilled that LaSalle Investment Management shares our concern for the environment."
