Aberdeen Group Publishes IT Infrastructure, Networking and Application Performance Research

Research Examines SMB Computing, Apps Deployment, Improved Mobile User Experience

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwired - Jun 12, 2013) - Aberdeen Group, a Harte-Hanks Company (NYSE: HHS), today announced the publication of new research reports from its IT Infrastructure, Networking and Application Performance research practices.

"Solving the Unique Computing Challenges of Small and Mid-sized Businesses," one of two reports authored this month by Dick Csaplar, Senior Research Analyst for the Aberdeen IT Infrastructure/ Virtualization and the Cloud research practice, shows that server virtualization directly addresses many of the challenges faced by SMB IT. Companies with server virtualization reported a 50% reduction in the amount of time required to deploy a new application and a 30% reduction in the amount of applications downtime. Mission critical and enterprise applications have lower rates of being deployed on virtualized servers, but those rates should grow as organizations see firsthand the benefits of server virtualization. To obtain a complimentary copy of this report visit: http://www.aberdeen.com/link/sponsor.asp?spid=30410182&cid=8451&camp=2.

Also from Dick Csaplar, "On-Premise or in the Cloud -- How Best-in-Class Deploy their Manufacturing Applications" shows that there are now five basic ways to deploy an application, either on-premise or in the Cloud. Leading organizations are more likely to deploy their manufacturing application in the Cloud using a SaaS deployment model or having the application hosted by a Cloud provider. All other survey respondents were most likely to have their manufacturing application deployed in-house, on a physical server, deployed without the benefit of any server virtualization. Leading organizations are clearly gaining the advantages of the Cloud and server virtualization when it comes to supporting their manufacturing applications. To obtain a complimentary copy of this report visit: http://www.aberdeen.com/link/sponsor.asp?spid=30410182&cid=8452&camp=2.

"Reaching the Top of the Web Performance Mountain," authored by Jim Rapoza, Senior Research Analyst for the Aberdeen Networking and Application Performance research practice, examines how a focus on web application performance has become vital for companies looking to ensure that their web-based content, applications, and overall business perform well and deliver a positive user experience. This report shows that organizations that focus on managing and improving web content performance, through capabilities like real-time and real-user monitoring and server and code optimization, are able to improve the experience for users and reduce complaints. This report examines how web optimization drives the need for comprehensive performance management, and analyzes how businesses create a highly-optimized web presence. "A Smarter WLAN: 10 Steps to Improving the Mobile User Experience," also authored by Rapoza, and Andrew Borg, Research Director for the Enterprise Mobility & Collaboration practice, outlines the essential network infrastructure and support capabilities required to deliver an optimized mobile end-user experience, and offers ten recommended steps that lead to higher end-user satisfaction. With the continuing move to tablets and smartphones as primary computing platforms, combined with the challenges of BYOD support and the coming rush of M2M applications, organizations need to prepare their wireless networks to make connectivity as easy as possible, while ensuring the highest levels of performance and optimized end-user experience.
