SPi Global Joins Forum for E-Learning Standards

TINLEY PARK, IL--(Marketwired - Jun 13, 2013) - SPi Global, one of the world's leading content solutions providers, has recently joined the IMS Global Learning Consortium (IMS GLC) as a Common Cartridge & Learning Tools Interoperability Alliance Member.

As an Alliance Member, SPi Global can now participate in a forum that shapes the world's technology standards for e-learning.

IMS Global is a nonprofit organization that advances technology that can affordably scale and improve educational participation and attainment. Its members include suppliers, institutions, and government organizations who work together to ensure interoperability and adoption of technologies that enable education.

"Together with IMS Global and its Alliance members, SPi Global will continue to support the development and integration of industry open standards including Common Cartridge and Learning Tools Interoperability," said SPi Global President and CEO Maulik Parekh.

The Common Cartridge & Learning Tools Interoperability™ Alliance is a community for those involved in implementing Common Cartridge and Learning Tools Interoperability through online engagement with IMS member organizations, IMS staff, and other resources. Common Cartridge refers to a set of major standards involving organized and distributed digital learning content, while LTI is another set of standards involving applications, systems, and mash-ups of systems.

As a provider of publishing solutions to education publishers for over 20 years, SPi Global hopes to be able to deliver even better services in the future. The company already empowers K-12 and Higher Education companies by maximizing the value of their content online and offline.

"We're very excited to have SPi Global as an IMS Common Cartridge & Learning Tools Interoperability Alliance member," said IMS Chief Executive Officer Rob Abel.

"We hope our Alliance membership will complement our strategic understanding of our clients' learning resources and how to relate with their target audience, as well as our expertise in seamlessly integrating content and migrating into different platforms. We look forward to a fruitful partnership with the IMS Global community, and a world reaping the benefits of e-learning," said Parekh.
