McEachern HS to Install Fair-Play by Trans-Lux Video Scoreboard

True 16mm LED to Be One of the Largest High School Video Scoreboards in the Nation

NORWALK, CT--(Marketwired - Jun 13, 2013) - McEachern High School in Cobb County, Georgia will soon be home to one of the largest LED video scoreboards installed at a high school in the nation -- and the largest among high schools in the state -- with the installation of a 30'x36' Fair-Play by Trans-Lux Large Screen Video Display. The new True 16mm LED, part of a full system that includes a digital video scoreboard and scrolling sponsor panels with state of the art controllers and sound systems, will be a major attraction at the school's Cantrell Stadium.

When the McEachern High School video board is compared to the LED video display in Sanford Stadium at the University of Georgia, the impact of the True 16mm LED system is evident. The LED video display at Sanford Stadium occupies 2,638 square-feet, compared to 1,080 square-feet for the video board to be installed at McEachern High School. However, the physical pixel count for the Stanford Stadium LED display is 481,440 pixels which is only 140,192 pixels more than the 341,248 pixel count of the smaller McEachern board. While neither board would qualify as High Definition (720 x 1280p or 921,600 pixels), the McEachern High School board would feature 961,765 physical pixels if increased to the same size as the LED display in Sanford Stadium -- surpassing the requirement to be defined as High Definition.

"The McEachern High School digital display will be one of the largest and most impactful full video LED scoring systems in the southeast, and we believe it will be the largest LED video scoreboard at any high school in the nation," said Bill Timmins, Head Designer, Fair-Play by Trans-Lux. "We are thrilled to be able to deliver a great viewing experience to the students and fans."

Avery Hendrix of Scoretime Scoreboards worked directly with McEachern High School during the bid process. "I'd like to thank the McEachern High School staff, specifically Jim Dorsey, for being diligent and thorough in their search for a solution that brought to life what McEachern had envisioned -- a scoreboard with a lot of wow factor," said Mr. Hendrix. "As High Schools continue to look to these types of projects as smart and effective ways to add to their game day experience, Scoretime Scoreboards backed by Fair-Play by Trans-Lux will continue to lead."

"We were looking for a video board that would change the game day experience and bring a new atmosphere to the fans," said Jim Dorsey, Athletic Director at McEachern High School. "We feel like this is the crowning jewel of our ten-year stadium renovation."

"The scoreboard at McEachern High School is a college size board at a high school level," added Fair-Play by Trans-Lux Regional Sales Manager Roger Selesky.

The Fair-Play 16mm video board is UL/CE listed and complements Trans-Lux's complete line of LED boards, information displays and scoreboard systems.
