People Power Leaders Selected as Presidential Innovation Fellows by White House

Chief Scientist John Teeter to Serve on MyData Initiative and Advisory Board Member Joe Polastre to Serve on Innovation Toolkit

PALO ALTO, CA--(Marketwired - Jun 25, 2013) - People Power, developers of the groundbreaking free video app Presence that turns iPhones and iPads into wireless monitoring systems, is proud to support its Chief Scientist, John Teeter, and Technical Advisory Board member, Joe Polastre, as recently selected top innovators for the Presidential Innovation Fellows program. The Presidential Innovation Fellows (PIF) program pairs top innovators from the private sector, non-profits and academia with top innovators in government to collaborate during a focused, six-to-13 month "tour of duty." Teeter and Polastre will bring their expertise in energy, technology, data analytics, research and market strategy to the MyData and Innovation Toolkit Initiatives, two of ten projects in the PIF program to develop solutions that can save lives, save taxpayer money and fuel job creation.

The MyData Initiatives seek to empower the American people with secure access to their own personal data while stimulating the growth of private-sector applications and services that help people utilize their own data for their own benefit. Teeter is an energy expert and will be working on the Green Button Initiative, which enables millions of residential and commercial energy customers to easily download and view their own energy usage data.

As a data analytics expert, Polastre will be working on the Innovation Toolkit to develop a variety of ways the Federal Government can improve the efficiency and productivity of its workforce. The Innovation Toolkit connects employees through an online collaboration platform for learning and skills sharing. The initiative offers libraries that create an "innovation toolkit" of case studies, guides and how-to documents.

John Teeter is People Power's Chief Scientist and Technology Advisory Board Chairman with experience in the energy and technology industries. He is an integral part of People Power's government grant process and has contributed to the Smart Grid Interoperability Panel. John was the founder and CEO of First Step Research, a research consultancy focusing on the evolution of technology by providing community internet services in the early nineties. Prior to First Step Research, John was a founder and VP of Engineering at Gold Hill Computers, bringing the tools and technologies of artificial intelligence research to the commercial marketplace.

In addition to his Technical Advisory Board position with People Power, Joe Polastre was co-founder and chief technology officer at Sentilla, which delivers asset-level performance profiles across multiple data centers. Joe has a Ph.D. from University of California at Berkeley and has received a number of patents in the energy and IT areas. Named one of BusinessWeek's Best Young Tech Entrepreneurs, Joe has expertly developed and deployed large web applications with extensive data analytics.

"People Power is so honored to have two gifted leaders selected by the White House to improve the technology of our nation," said Gene Wang, People Power CEO. "John has a brilliant talent for energy technology, he is a Green Button expert and has a lot to contribute in making our Grid smarter and more engaging to people. We are thrilled that both John and Joe will have a unique opportunity to make a dramatic difference and improve our country's competitiveness on this milestone journey."
