Internet Radio Streaming Service Provider Awarded 6th Patent Covering Instant-On Streaming Technology

SurferNETWORK Announces the Addition of Another Internet Streaming Patent to its "Buffering Patent Portfolio". The Technology is Fundamental to Internet Streaming.

Flanders, NJ, June 25, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- SurferNETWORK, an Internet streaming vendor serving broadcast radio, and innovator of multiple Internet technologies, announces the award of U.S. Patent No. 8,364,839 on Feb.17, 2013. This is the sixth patent in a series of SurferNETWORK's Buffering Patent Portfolio, expanding the scope of coverage of that Portfolio.

The Buffering Patents cover technologies that are fundamental to modern streaming of both audio and video. This technology enables Instant-On for Internet streaming of live broadcasts as well as on-demand streaming from files.

Asked about this new patent, company president, Mr. William Grywalski, said "We are very pleased that the patent office continues to endorse the technologies encompassed by our previous patents in our Buffering Patent Portfolio. The fact that six patents have been issued after review by multiple patent Examiners validates our core belief that we had introduced a core and useful technology to the world".

Commenting on this new patent, SurferNETWORK founder and holder of numerous patents, Mr. Harry Emerson, said "Patents are about nuances of language and technology. Patent holders seek multiple patents to ensure that the patents cover all possible aspects of their inventions. While the buffering technology is highly technical, the net result is that it enables streaming to start immediately, rather than the user having to wait while data is loaded up before playback can begin. The patent family covers various aspects of this instant-on capability.  Before we invented this technology streaming was clumsy and aggravating, and many people were too frustrated to even bother with it. Now streaming is ubiquitous, and our technology is at the core."

The other patents in the Buffering Portfolio are: U.S. Pat. No. 6,766,376 issued July 20, 2004; U.S. Pat. No. 7,716,358 issued May 11, 2010; U.S. Pat. No. 8,122,141 issued Feb. 21, 2012; U.S. Pat. No. 8,185,611 issued May 22, 2012; and U.S. Pat. No. 8,327,011 issued Jan. 24, 2013.
