Two New AMVETS Call of Duty Endowment Career Centers to Open in Illinois

Cmdr. Cleve Geer Announces New Centers to be Fully Operational by End of Summer 2013

WASHINGTON, June 26, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- AMVETS National Commander Cleve Geer announced today that AMVETS will open two new Call of Duty Endowment Career Centers in summer 2013.

The centers, located in Chicago and Jacksonville, Ill., will give AMVETS 17 Call of Duty Endowment Career Centers nationwide. Each center provides complimentary training and employment assistance to veterans, active service members, National Guard and Reserve members, and their spouses. Center volunteers offer an array of services including career assessments, help obtaining licensing, resume writing, interview tips, job search assistance and support.

"We are excited to announce the opening of our new Career Centers in Chicago and Jacksonville," said Geer. "These openings represent AMVETS' expansion in Illinois and throughout the country and we are grateful to the Call of Duty Endowment for helping us realize this goal."

The new openings are the latest achievement in the partnership between AMVETS and the Call of Duty Endowment. The Endowment was founded in October 2009 by Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick to combat unemployment among returning veterans and uses its resources to assist organizations that provide job placement services to former service members. Additionally, the Call of Duty Endowment frequently engages the media and speaks out in public forums to raise awareness about this issue and show employers that hiring veterans is smart business.

"We are excited about the progress AMVETS is making in expanding employment services to veterans, the result of our fruitful partnership with them over the past three years," said Dan Goldenberg, the Endowment's Executive Director. "We remain committed to putting veterans into high quality careers and serving as a catalyst for important discussions about why organizations should hire former service members."
