Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund: Government of Canada Provides Support to Centre sportif Saint-Lin-Laurentides

SAINT-LIN-LAURENTIDES, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - July 4, 2013) - Acting on behalf of the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec and Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, the Honourable Claude Carignan, Deputy Leader of the Government in the Senate, today announced that Centre sportif Saint-Lin-Laurentides Inc. has been granted financial assistance for the expansion and upgrade of its community centre, Salle l'Opale.

"By funding this project of the Centre sportif Saint-Lin-Laurentides, the Government of Canada is fulfilling its commitment to help improve the quality of life in our communities," said Senator Carignan.

The Saint-Lin-Laurentides sports centre will use this financial assistance to provide citizens and local and regional organizations with access to a more spacious, versatile and functional community centre. The work will include the expansion, configuration and finishing of Salle l'Opale as well as the acquisition of such furnishings and equipment as folding partitions, a retractable stage, a cold room, curtains and signage.

This assistance, granted in the form of a $347,040 non-repayable financial contribution, has been awarded through the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF).

The CIIF has a nationwide budget of $150 million over two years, including $31.2 million to be invested in Quebec where the Agency is responsible for its administration. The Fund aims to support the rehabilitation and improvement, including expansion, of existing community infrastructure.
