Fort Worth Chiropractor Focuses on Nutrition for Wellness by Attending L.E.A.N. Workshops

FORT WORTH, Texas, July 7, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- A Fort Worth chiropractor and his business partner are advancing their knowledge of health, nutrition and wellness to their patients' advantage. Dr. Chris and Nancy Michlin, chiropractor and co-owner of Back to Health Family Chiropractic, recently attended several classes of the Dr. Sears' L.E.A.N. workshops so that they can expand upon the valuable information conveyed by the program. "As providers of whole-body wellness care for Fort Worth residents, we are always looking for ways to serve our patients more completely," says Dr. Michlin. "Dr. Sears' workshops gave us a wealth of coaching insights and tips."

The Michlins note that today's families can find it daunting to make healthy dietary choices and stick to them. The number of processed, packaged foods in grocery stores is overwhelming. "We are surrounded by foods high in starches, sugars, sodium, fake fats, hormones, pesticides and preservatives. These foods are terribly unhealthy, especially when they become the predominant ingredients in our diet," Nancy Michlin says, "People are usually insufficiently informed or in too much of a hurry to decipher ingredient lists. This invites poor health."

They explain that a regular diet of such foods can lead to obesity, which in turn raises the risks for diabetes, hypertension, heart attack, stroke and other serious issues. Both Dr. Michlin and Nancy state that educating families on how to eat for health has always been a passion of theirs. "We use nutritional counseling to help people recover from injuries or illnesses, to help them maintain a healthy weight, and to help them stay well year after year. That's why we were excited to have the opportunity to attend these workshops.

Dr. Michlin describes the Dr. Sears L.E.A.N. Workshops as a series of programs outlining the many ways living a healthy lifestyle can aid wellness. They participated in all four of the classes offered. Nancy Michlin says "L.E.A.N. Start focuses the nutritional value of different foods, how to get your children to eat healthy foods, and the vital link between childhood activity levels and growth. L.E.A.N. Essentials provides simple yet important strategies for maintaining health, reducing sick days and medical costs, and generally enjoying a healthier life. L.E.A.N. Expectations discusses the dietary and nutritional needs of pregnant women. Dr. Sears' Prime Time is all about how we age and ways to add years to your life and life to your years."

"Our patients range in age from newborns to Centenarians, whether they are old or young, all of these insights are extremely helpful," says Dr. Michlin. "We make it our mission to help all of our patients understand their bodies and how to take control of their health."

In addition to nutritional and wellness counseling addressing the Four Pillars of Health, Back to Health Family Chiropractic provides a variety of chiropractic care techniques, including the Palmer and Atlas Orthogonal Techniques.
