Hotel in Bangor, Maine Receives Platinum Award at Marriott GM Conference

Courtyard Bangor ranks in top 5% in overall guest satisfaction

BANGOR, ME--(Marketwired - Jul 8, 2013) - In the hotel business, properties know they're doing well based on the feedback of their guests. According to those of the Courtyard Bangor, the Bangor, Maine lodging is doing a stellar job.

Earlier this summer, Marriott hosted its annual CFRST General Managers Conference in Orlando, where general managers from its five select-service brands -- Courtyard, Fairfield Inn & Suites, Residence Inn, SpringHill Suites and TownePlace Suites -- gathered to learn more about running a successful business, network and, of course, recognize and celebrate top performers. Among the attendees was this Bangor Cross Insurance Center hotel, which walked away not only with the tools and knowledge to create a better guest experience, but two awards recognizing its excellence.

These Bangor, Maine accommodations were recognized as a Platinum Hotel by earning a Guest Satisfaction Survey (GSS) score of 91%, placing it within the top 5% of Courtyard hotels nationwide. The hotel also received an Arrival Experience Award with its GSS score of 94.5%, earning it a third-place spot (in a tie) among 833 Courtyard hotels nationwide. The awards were presented to general manager Doreen Salls. To celebrate, the Bangor Courtyard will host a Platinum Award Celebration for staff on Friday, July 26th that will include an outdoor BBQ, group photo, You tube video and team recognition.

The conference brought together more than 2,700 leaders for the opportunity to learn about new initiatives and programs, focus on leadership skills and pick up tools to improve hotel performance. While the general managers were the real stars of the event, the conference drew some pretty big-name speakers, too, including former President Bill Clinton, chairman and CEO of PepsiCo Indra Nooyi, Marriott president and CEO Arne Sorenson and executive chairman and business icon J.W. Marriott, Jr.
