MATANE, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - July 10, 2013) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec and Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, announces that the Digital Imagery Research and Development Centre (CDRIN) has been granted financial assistance for the acquisition of high-technology equipment.

"Supporting innovation is at the very heart of the Government of Canada's strategy for strengthening the economy and fostering employment. This funding of the Digital Imagery Research and Development Centre is in direct alignment with that objective," said Minister Lebel.

Inaugurated in 2011, the CDRIN is dedicated to conducting collaborative research and helping enterprises develop products and processes in the field of digital imagery and motion capture. The financial assistance from Canada Economic Development will serve for the acquisition of motion capture cameras, a virtual camera and other equipment that will give the Centre a virtual showcase to help facilitate remote work with clients.

This assistance, granted in the form of a $381,360 non-repayable financial contribution, has been awarded through Canada Economic Development's Quebec Economic Development Program.
