Centre d'aide technologique aux entreprises de la Cote-Nord du Quebec Receives Financial Support From Government of Canada

SEPT-ÎLES, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - July 12, 2013) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec and Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, announces that Centre d'aide technologique aux entreprises de la Côte-Nord (CATE Côte-Nord) has been granted financial assistance for the pursuit of its mission.

"The Government of Canada remains focused on the economy, as this funding of CATE Côte-Nord clearly illustrates. Through its support of Côte-Nord's small and medium-sized manufacturers and large enterprises, this organization is helping to further the region's prosperity," said Minister Lebel.

Since 2001, CATE Côte-Nord has been providing assistance to Côte-Nord businesses in the areas of innovation and research and development. Over the years, the organization has developed high-level expertise in the optimization of industrial processes, welding engineering, computer engineering, and mechanical and metal manufacturing.

The funding from Canada Economic Development will allow CATE Côte-Nord to provide the region's manufacturing SMEs with value-added services to help them improve their productivity and innovative capabilities. These enterprises will thus have access to specialized consulting services and guidance to optimize their industrial processes and mechanical and metal manufacturing operations. This project is in line with the determination of regional stakeholders to diversify and strengthen the Côte-Nord economy, which is heavily reliant on the primary processing of natural resources by large corporations.

Information:

This assistance, granted in the form of a $1,086,571 non-repayable financial contribution, has been awarded through Canada Economic Development's Quebec Economic Development Program.
