Saint-Jerome CEGEP's Quebec Advanced Transportation Institute Receives Funding from Government of Canada

SAINT-JÉRÔME, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - July 16, 2013) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, announces that the Quebec Advanced Transportation Institute (ITAQ)-a college technology transfer centre affiliated with Saint-Jérôme CEGEP-has been granted funding for the acquisition of specialized equipment.

"Through its support of the Quebec Advanced Transportation Institute, the Government of Canada is helping to stimulate innovation, thereby fulfilling its commitment to promote job-rich growth," said Minister Lebel.

Located in the heart of the Laurentides region, a recognized hub of excellence in the field of advanced transportation, ITAQ has been providing businesses with applied research and technology transfer services since 2002. The organization supports enterprises in their technology development efforts with the aim of improving the energy efficiency of vehicles, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and exploiting renewable energy sources in the ground transportation sector.

The government funding will enable ITAQ to purchase prototype manufacturing equipment and measurement and diagnostic instruments. These new acquisitions will help the organization more fully meet the needs of businesses in terms of technology transfer and new product or manufacturing process development, thus allowing it to better serve existing clients while extending its guidance and applied research services to other enterprises.

This assistance, granted in the form of a $432,400 non-repayable financial contribution, has been awarded through Canada Economic Development's Quebec Economic Development Program.
