WANdisco Adds Git Track, Renames Conference Subversion & Git Live 2013

WANdisco Adds Expert-Led Git Sessions to Conferences in Boston, San Francisco, and London

SAN RAMON, CA--(Marketwired - Jul 17, 2013) - WANdisco (LSE: WAND), a provider of high-availability software for global enterprises to meet the challenges of Big Data and distributed software development, today announced the addition of expert-led sessions for the version control tool Git to its popular annual conference series, Subversion Live. The company has also renamed the event to reflect the expansion, and the conference is now called Subversion & Git Live 2013. The announcement is being made following WANdisco's launch of Git MultiSite earlier this week.

The new Git track will supplement the event's agenda, featuring expert-led discussions on the nature of software evolution, presentations highlighting the future of Git, live demos, and four breakout sessions focusing on the distributed version control software, including:

  • Introduction to Git: For the developer new to Git, an overview of how Git compares to other SCM systems and how to start using it.
  • Git Enterprise Challenges: In depth look at the challenges Git presents in an enterprise software development environment.
  • Git and Continuous Delivery: An overview of Git workflows and how they intersect with continuous delivery. This session will also cover how to build an effective continuous delivery tool stack using Git and popular open source tools like the Jenkins continuous integration build server.
  • Git Workflows: An exploration of Git's powerful branching and how it influences some of the most popular Git workflows in use today. This session will explore these Git Workflows, contrast them to traditional branching models, and examine their application to continuous delivery.

"Subversion Live has a proud history of bringing together the most dedicated open source software users and committers to share their experiences and we're excited to provide the same unique forum to the Git community," said David Richards, WANdisco CEO. "We look forward to furthering the adoption of open source distributed development solutions."

This year's conference will take place at the following locations on these dates (click links to register):

  • Boston, October 3 at the Westin Copley Place (10 Huntington Ave.)
